How to Create An Environment That Helps Your Goal

Nobody can live in a complete bubble, but external influences will push you off the track when striving for your goals. Take a good, long look at the physical space you are working or living in, and ask yourself, is this space designed to help me achieve my goals?

Make sure your environment will support the daily behavior that will turn into a productive habit, that will then contribute to the completion of your goals.

The key to setting up your environment for success is to create visual cues that trigger a habit or behavior that contributes to a positive outcome.

  • Your brain is always looking for shortcuts to making decisions. Habits are a great way to make decisions automatically. Therefore, you can design your environment to cue positive behaviors by reinforcing associations.

  • You can design your environment to establish certain behaviors. However, it will take time to create new associations.

  • You may think that will power determines your success, but the truth is that creating the right environment is the key to developing good habits.

  • Making a to-do list may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s very easy to think you’ll remember something and then you totally forget what you meant to do. Keep a pen and paper nearby to take quick notes or put it in a notes app on your phone .

  • If you’re prone to procrastination, decluttering will help alleviate distractions that make it difficult for you to focus on achieving your goals.

  • Essentially, your environment is made of everything from the people you spend most time with, this means that the people in your social circle who are unmotivated and unproductive have a negative effect on your motivation and your productivity levels.

Success, in fitness and in other areas, can be attained quicker when we prepare for it. Immersing yourself in an environment that drives you daily towards your goals will help you greatly.
